資料庫簡介：本庫為「China and the Modern World: Imperial China and the West, 1815-1881」的延續，數位化英國國家檔案館的外交部 FO 17（General Correspondence: China）系列檔案，及部分 FO 83 司法官員報告等其他外交檔案。內容記錄 1865 年至 1905 年間中西方關係的演變，涵蓋晚清時期的外交談判、條約簽署、通商貿易、軍事衝突、租界與殖民地行政，以及華人移民、基督教傳教活動、鐵路與礦業開發、海關與各類法律訴訟等一手文獻，為研究近代中國政治、經濟、社會以及帝國主義與亞洲互動史提供原始史料。
